Memories of Bill
From Toni Lang
"I was fortunate to call Bill a close personal friend. I joined HRCC because of him (all the while teasing him it was because I had a crush on Heidi, the Assistant Director/Accompanist!), and performed with him in some small groups as well. Just two weeks before we lost him, our group “Déjà Vu … the Trio” performed at the Loretto Center. There I was, announcing our next number, trying to add some intelligent background information, while taking verbal abuse from Bill and Guy (our third). Bill’s masterful tenor vocals and that pulsing bass guitar, along with that dry humor and amazing performance personality are things I miss to this day."
From Corky & Pat Carlson
I can remember at the end of every dress rehearsal Bill would call us all together and encourage us by telling us that we had worked hard and it would be a great concert. At the concerts, if we weren’t paying attention or looked blah, he would make weird faces at us.
Bill always had a lot to say in between songs, jokes, information about the songs, and more jokes. corny jokes.
Bill had some really fun ideas for concerts including “A Matter of Taste” in which all the music was about food. We sang about pizza, bubble gum, snacks and of course chocolate . He was more than surprised when the Chorus threw Baby Ruth candy bars at him at the end of our Chocolate song.
